Monte Carlo calculation of the current-voltage characteristics of a two-dimensional lattice Coulomb gas.

چکیده
We have studied the nonlinear current-voltage characteristic of a two dimensional lattice Coulomb gas by Monte Carlo simulation. We present three different determinations of the power-law exponent a(T ) of the nonlinear current-voltage characteristic, V ∼ Ia(T )+1. The determinations rely on both equilibrium and non-equilibrium simulations. We find good agreement between the different determinations, and our results also agree closely with experimental results for Hg-Xe thin film superconductors and for certain single crystal thin-film high temperature superconductors. Lattice Boltzmann modeling of two component gas diffusion in solid oxide fuel cell
In recent years, the need for high efficiency and low emission power generation systems has made much attention to the use of fuel cell technology. The solid oxide fuel cells due to their high operating temperature (800 ℃ -1000 ℃) are suitable for power generation systems.Two-component gas flow (H2 and H2O) in the porous media of solid oxide fuel cell’s anode have been modeled via lattice Boltz...
متن کاملCoulomb blockade thermometry using a two-dimensional array of tunnel junctions
We have measured current-voltage characteristics of two-dimensional arrays of small tunnel junctions at temperatures from 1.5 K to 4.2 K. This corresponds to thermal energies larger than the charging energy. We show that 2D-arrays can be used as primary thermometers in the same way as 1D-arrays, and even have some advantages over 1D-arrays. We have carried out Monte Carlo simulations, which agr...
متن کاملPhase Transitions in a Two-Dimensional Vortex System with Defects: Monte Carlo Simulation
The phase states and phase transitions in a system consisting of a two-dimensional vortex lattice with defects are studied by the Monte Carlo method. It is shown that a “rotating lattice” phase, which is an intermediate phase between the vortex crystal and vortex liquid phases, is present. The dependence of the temperature of the transition from the rotating lattice phase into a vortex liquid o...
متن کاملDriven diffusion in the two-dimensional lattice Coulomb gas: A model for flux flow in superconducting networks.
We carry out driven diffusion Monte Carlo simulations of the two dimensional classical lattice Coulomb gas in an applied uniform electric field, as a model for vortex motion due to an applied d.c. current in a periodic superconducting network. A finite-size version of dynamic scaling is used to extract the dynamic critical exponent z, and infer the non-linear response at the transition temperat...
متن کاملLocal Field Correction Effect on Dicluster Stopping Power in a Strongly Coupled Two-Dimensional Electron Gas System
We calculate the stopping power for heavy-ion diclusters moving in a strongly coupled two-dimensional electron gas system by using the local field corrected dielectric function at finite temperature. We obtain a parameterized local field correction factor based on a relation between the thermal compressibility and exchange-correlation energy in two-dimension. The interpolated parameter is deriv...
